I’m standing in Beresford Square
Looking north to
the Arsenal
My mind sounds heard
Retelling a past historical.
The trams’ wheels sizzling
Step over the cobbles
The foundry’s breathing
And the laughing rabble.
Husbands, sons crossing the Gate
Mind filled with joyful dreams
Making the world’s fate
Under the murky screams.
They’re Woolwich’s heart
Steaming forever ahead
With iron willpower
The world will be for them.
That’s their legacy left
Nothing expecting in return
Let’s raise the flag high
And proudly show it around.
